Basic rules

6-boat contest

The six racers are easy to keep track of, thanks to their color-coded boats and uniforms.

3 laps counterclockwise

The 6 boats race 3 laps around the 600-meter course (1,800 m).

Unique starting style

Competitors complete a practice run before each race.

BOAT RACE employs the flying start system. Boats must pass the starting line within a designated time frame during which they must be moving at all times.

After competitors receive the signal to pit-out of the docks, they maneuver their boats in an effort to secure a favorable starting position as a giant clock near the start/finish line begins the countdown to the start.

Flying starts and late starts

If a boat does not cross the starting line within one second after the giant clock hits 0, the boat is disqualified from the race and any bets on that boat are refunded.

How to buy a betting ticket

    Fill out the OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) betting card.

    First, insert money into the ticket vending machine, then insert your OMR card.

  • STEP3

    Press the "Purchase (発行)" button.
    If you do not wish to purchase any more tickets, press the "Payment (支払精算)" button.

  • STEP4

    Take your betting ticket.

  • STEP5

    To claim your winnings or a refund in the case of a false start or other problem, insert your betting ticket into the ticket machine. The machine will read the ticket and pay out your winnings or refund.
